Since 2006

Rooted in Caring, Growing with Community

After The Bell began in 2006 with a simple promise: to create a warm, reliable place where children can feel at home after the school day ends. What started as a small idea has grown into two welcoming centres on Oxford Street and in Cole Harbour, serving families across Halifax, Dartmouth, and Cole Harbour. Every day, we focus on safety, play-based learning, and strong relationships so children can rest, recharge, and grow with confidence.

The After The Bell Difference

What Makes Us Unique

We prioritize strong character education, helping children practice kindness, responsibility, and respect in everyday moments. Through group activities, shared routines, and gentle guidance, we support them in becoming confident, caring community members.

Both of our centres are Nova Scotia-certified and thoughtfully designed for children in our care, so families can trust that children are in a safe, developmentally appropriate environment.

Many families stay with us for years, moving from one program to the next as their children grow.

Rebecca Rhee

I am the Executive Director of After the Bell Inc.
I have worked with children of all ages, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children for over 10 years.

Every child is born with different curiosity, capabilities, characteristics, and talents.

Having the opportunity to assist these children and see them grow is both rewarding and enjoyable.
The goal of our program is to treat all children with respect, to provide them with a nurturing environment that meets their needs and allows them to explore their interests in a positive, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
Providing this kind of guidance to a child helps them become successful and happy adults.
I am looking forward to meeting you all.

Sheri Faulkner

 Cole Harbour Centre Diretor

I'm a mother of two beautiful daughters.

I have been a staff member at ATB since 2009.

My youngest daughter has attended ATB since then.
One of my favorite parts of my job here is craft time with the children.

I love their creativity and their enthusiasm to try.

I used to work for HRSB before coming to ATB.
I enjoy coming to ATB every day to care for your children and watch them play, learn, and grow!

Jennie Park

I came from South Korea and have been here in Halifax since 2020.

I majored in science education and I've worked with teenage group in Korea for 15 years.
I have an ECE level 2 in NS and processing  ECE level 3.
I have a daughter who is almost grown up, so I am very happy to be able to spend the day with your kids. Sometimes they need guidance, helper or a parent substitute.

I appreciate your warm hearted support and trust and the time we spend together in advance.

Liz Kim

      Oxford Centre

(Inclusion Coordinator)

Hello, I'm Liz (HyunMi Kim),
a level 3 ECE with a BA in Early Childhood Education from South Korea.
I'm a strong believer in a child's innate ability to wonder and express themselves through "The Hundred Languages of Children." One of the aspects of my work that I cherish the most is engaging in crafts, music, and circle time with the children.
Outside of work, I'm a proud mother of two lovely daughters. My family and I share a passion for watching movies and listening to music. In fact, starting our day by playing music is a daily tradition for us.

A Safe Place for Children
Care You Can Always Trust

Both our centres follow all Nova Scotia rules to keep kids protected. We have small groups so our teachers can spend time with every child.  We use simple routines and safe spaces so your little ones feel comfortable and happy throughout the day while they are in our care.

Why Families Choose Our Care

At After The Bell, we focus on safety, fun, and new friends. We want our centre to feel like a second home for your family.

With special programs for all ages, we offer a warm place where children can relax after school and learn new things. We are here to help your child grow and feel safe every single day.

Learning Through Fun
Education That Feels Like Play

We think children learn best when they are having fun. Through crafts, playing outside, and creative projects, your child can try new things. This helps them become more confident and solve problems easily. We give them the time and space to follow their own interests in a very friendly way.
